The authors present a mathematical system governing fluid out of equilibrium in its nature entropic symmetric form as well as in a convenient hyperbolic-parabolic symmetric form, which was firstly derived from the kinetic theory of gases, then analyze this system for the relaxation of translational and internal temperatures. The Chapman-Enskog expansion is applied in the fast relaxation limit. And the symmetrization of the system is studied as well as the simplifications for the expression of the extra dissipative coefficients arising from the perturbed convective terms and their smoothness properties. Finally, the authors show that temperature difference becomes asymptotically proportional to the divergence of the velocity field and the asymptotic behavior yields the volume viscosity term of the limiting one-temperature fluid model.
