The article deals with properties of operator pencils, i.e., operators acting on \(\mathcal{F}_\lambda(M)\), the space of \(\lambda\)-densities on a manifold \(M\). Due to stability of multiplication, the authors consider the Hilbert space, the algebra \(\mathcal{F}(M)=\bigcup_{\lambda\in \mathbb R}\mathcal{F}_\lambda(M)\) endowed with an inner product and by considering \(\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M)\), the space of differential operators, of order less than \(n\), acting on \(\mathcal{F}_\lambda(M)\)), they set up (regular) pencil lifting map \(\widehat{\Pi}\), i.e., an operator defined on \(\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M)\) and with values the space of operator pencils of finite order. Then, for \(\mathcal{G}\) a Lie subalgebra of the algebra of all vector fields on \(M\), diff\((M)\), they provide the definition of \(\widehat{\Pi}\) equivariant with respect to \(\mathcal{G}\), i.e., \(\text{\textbf{ad}}_K(\widehat{\Pi}(\Delta))=\widehat{\Pi}(\text{\textbf{ad}}_K(\Delta))\), such that \(\text{\textbf{ ad}}_K\) is the commutator of the following two operators, \(\Delta\in\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M)\) and \(\mathcal{L}_K\), the Lie derivative with respect to the vector field \(K\). Also they give the definition of the full symbol map \(\sigma_\lambda^{(n)}\) acting from \(\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M)\) to the space of functions on \(T^*M\), the cotangent space of \(M\). Then, by taking the composition of \(\sigma_\lambda^{(n)}\) by the inverse of \(\sigma_\mu^{(n)}\), they deduce the DLO-pencil lifting map. Accordingly, the second and the third sections focus on the study of the diff\((M)\)-equivariant of \(\widehat{\Pi}\) on \(\mathcal{D}^{(1)}_\lambda(M)\) (resp. \(\mathcal{D}^{(2)}_\lambda(M)\)). The fourth section is reserved on the study of the equivariance of \(\widehat{\Pi}\) on \(\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M)\) for all \(n\geq 3\) where \(\mathcal{G}\) is comprised by the vectors field on \(M\) such that an element of \(\mathcal{F}_1(M)\) is a bundle-like volume form. The fifth section focuses on the study of the proj\((M)\)-equivariant of the DLO-pencil lifting map, such that proj\((M)\) stands for the algebra of projective vector fields on a projective manifold, that is, a manifold which is locally a projective space. Furthermore, they show that \(\widehat{\Pi}(\mathcal{D}^{(n)}_\lambda(M))\) is the space of self-adjoint (resp. anti-self-adjoint) operator pencils, when \(n\) is even (resp. odd) (Proposition 4).
