Let \(k\) be a field, \(G\) a finite group, and denote by \(\mathcal{C}_k\) the biset category, and by \(kB(G,G)\) be the double Burnside algebra. Let \(\Sigma(G)\) be the full subcategory of \(\mathcal{C}_k\) consisting of subquotients of \(G\). Assume that the characteristic of \(k\) does not divide \(|\mathrm{Out}(H)|\) for all subquotients \(H\) of \(G\), and that the simple \(k\)-linear functors from \(\Sigma(G)\) to \(k\)-Mod do not vanish at \(G\). Then the author proves that \(kB(G,G)\) is a quasi-hereditary algebra. Consequently, \(kB(G,G)\) has finite global dimension in this case. The non-vanishing condition cannot be removed, as the author also shows that \(kB(G,G)\) has infinite global dimension when \(G\) is the alternating group \(A_5\) and the characteristic of \(k\) is not \(2\), \(3\), or \(5\).
