Let \(Sol \) be the semidirect product of \({\mathbb R}^2\) with \({\mathbb R}\), having the coordinates \((y_0,y_1,u)\) and multiplication \((y_0,y_1,u)(y'_0,y'_1,u')=(y_0+e^uy'_0,y_1+e^{-u}y'_1, u+u')\). If one denotes by \(p_0,p_1,p_u\) the corresponding momenta then the functions \(\alpha _0=e^up_0, \alpha _1=e^{-u}p_1, v=p_u\) are left-invariant on \(T^*Sol\) yielding the \textit{magnetic} Hamiltonian \(2H=\alpha ^2_0+\alpha ^2_1+v^2\). \(Sol\) admits cocompact lattices \(\Delta \) and the closed 3-manifold \(\Sigma=\Delta \backslash Sol\) is a 2-torus bundle over the circle. The manifold \(\Sigma \) has a distinguished \textit{monopole} i.e. a closed non-exact 2-form given by \(\Omega =dy_0\wedge dy_1\). An important result of this paper is that magnetic flows determined by \(H\) and \(\Omega \) have positive Liouville entropy and then are never completely integrable. Another remarkable result is that for a large class of twisted cotangent bundles of solvable manifolds every compact set is diplaceable.
