Padé approximants \(\pi_{n,m}=p_n/q_m\) of type \([n/m]\) are considered for functions \(f\) analytic in the open unit disk \(\mathbb D\) and having an expansion of the form \[ f(z) =\pm z^{l_0}\sum_{k=0}^\infty \frac{(\pm z^d)^n}{bn+a_0} \] where \(l_0\) is a nonnegative integer, \(d\) is a natural number, and \(b\) and \(a_0\) are positive real. Examples are \(\ln(1-z)\) and \(\arctan(z)\) with logarithmic branch points in \(z=1\) and \(z=\pm i\) respectively. Using the determinantal expressions for the Padé denominator and several determinantal identities, asymptotic expressions are obtained holding uniformely in \(\mathbb D\) when \(m\) is fixed and \(n\to\infty\) for \(q_m\), \(q_mf-p_n\), and \(\pi_{n,m}-f\). The results still hold if also \(m\) tends to \(\infty\) slow enough. Also order-sharp estimates are obtained for the error of the best uniform rational approximant of type \([n/m]\) in a closed disk \({\mathbb D}_q=\{z:|z|\leq q<1\}\). This estimate turns out to behave like \(q^n/n^{2m+1}\) as \(n\to\infty\).
