The authors prove a new lower bound for the coefficients of Ehrhart polynomials of convex lattice polytopes in terms of their volumes. Further they give a counterexample to Hibi's lower bound for the case of lattice polytopes without interior lattice points. It is based on the formula for Ehrhart series of the join of two lattice polytopes. The authors also present a formula for calculating the Ehrhart series of integral dilates of a polytope.
