Quintic spline interpolation on uniform meshes (Q2563788)

The authors consider lacunary interpolation by quintic splines with equidistant knots of multiplicity three. Given a function \(f\in C^5\), the problem is to determine a spline of this type, which interpolates the function values of \(f\) as well as those of the first or second derivative at the knots, and the fourth derivative at the midpoints of the knot intervals. Existence and uniqueness of this spline is proved, and the approximation order of \(s^r\), \(r=0,\dots,4\) is determined.
