    Let \(p\) be a prime. In Theorem A, the author describes the structure of the generalized Fitting subgroup of a finite group \(G\) with the property that \(\Aut(G)\) has precisely two orbits on the set of defect groups of \(p\)-blocks of \(G\). In Theorem B, the author considers a finite group \(G\) with the property that \(\Aut(G)\) has precisely two orbits on the set \(\{P\cap Q:P,Q\in\text{Syl}_p(G)\}\). He proves that either \(\overline G:=G/O_p(G)\) has a T.I. Sylow \(p\)-subgroup, or \(p=2\) and the structure of \(\overline G\) can be described in detail. -- The paper also contains a result on half-transitive automorphism groups.
