The paper considers the radial wave equation which described the relative motion of two positively charged particles interacting through Coulomb fields. The equation is a special confluent hypergeometric equation with a parameter situation where one of the fundamental solutions has a logarithmic singularity. This ``irregular Coulomb function'' is represented in terms of the regular solutions. The basis is a (new, even more interesting) lemma on the expansion of the singular Whittaker function \(W\) as a series of regular Whittaker functions \(M\). -- \textit{A. S. Meligy} [Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 57, 782-789 (1961; Zbl 0107.05803)] studied a special case.
