Pattern formation in the Brusselator system (Q2567300)

The paper treats the well known Brusselator system for the concentrations \(U, V\) of two reactants in an \(n\)-dimensional bounded domain with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Four parameters occurring in this system describe the fixed concentrations of two other components, the diffusion coefficient of \(U\), and the size of the domain, respectively. Depending on these parameters, there are results on non-existence resp. existence of positive non-constant solutions which partly improve recent results by K. J. Brown and F. A. Davidson. The proofs are achieved by a priori estimates that are derived from standard results in elliptic regularity and embedding theory, and by using the Leray-Schauder degree.
