    Let \(H\) be a complex Hilbert space and \(\mathcal B(H)\) be the set of all bounded linear operators on \(H\). For \(A, B\in {\mathcal B}(H), A\) is said to be James' orthogonal to \(B\), denoted by \(A \bot B\), if \(\| A + \lambda B\| \geq\| A\|\) for all complex numbers \(\lambda\). In this paper, the author characterizes isometries and coisometries in \(\mathcal B(H)\) in terms of James' orthogonality. Further, he obtains a structure of surjective linear or conjugate linear maps preserving James' orthogonality in both directions on \(\mathcal B(H)\).
