It is well-known that \(2n\)-dimensional smooth manifold \(M\) has a \(U(n)\)-structure if and only if \(M\) admits an almost Hermitian structure \((I,\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)\). Gray and Hervella classfied all almost Hermitian manifolds into 16 classes from point of view of \(U(n)\)-representation theory in terms of the covariant derivative \(\nabla\omega\) of the Kähler form \(\omega\). It is required the informations about the exterior derivative \(d\omega\) of the Kähler form \(\omega\) and also the search in the Nijenhuis tensor \(N\) of the almost complex structure \(I\) for the classification of \(U(n)\)-structures. A \(2n\)-dimensional smooth manifold with an \(\text{SU}(n)\)-structure is caleed a special almost Hermitian manifold. A special almost Hermitian manifold is regarded as an almost Hermitian manifold \((M,I,\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle)\) equipped with a complex volume form \(\Psi=\psi_++ i\psi_-\) such that \(\langle\Psi,\Psi\rangle_{\mathbb{C}}= 1\), where \(\langle\cdot, \cdot\rangle_{\mathbb{C}}= \langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle+ i\omega(\cdot,\cdot)\). In the present paper, the author gives a Gray-Hervella type classification for special almost Hermitian manifolds and points out several differences between the Gray-Hervella classification for almost Hermitian manifolds and the one for special almost Hermitian manifolds. Further, the author proves that the exterior derivatives of the Kähler form \(\omega\) and the forms \(\psi_+\), \(\psi_-\) provide all the informations about the intrinsic torsion of the \(\text{SU}(n)\)-structure. As an application this result, the author proves that the exterior derivatives of three Kähler forms of an almost hyper-Hermitian determine the intrinsic torsion of the \(\text{Sp}(n)\)-structure and also gives a generalization of a Choissi and Salamon's result for \(\text{SU}(3)\)-structures by considering invariance under conformal changes of metric.
