An almost Fano threefold is a threefold \(X\) whose anticanonical bundle \(| -K_{X} |\) is nef and big (instead of ample, as in the case of Fano threefolds). In this paper the authors classify the almost Fano threefolds with Picard number \(\rho(X) =2\) in the case that the base point free linear system \(| -mK_{X}|\), \(m\gg 0\) is divisorial. The proof is based on the study of two maps: i) a Mori contraction \(\phi: X \to Y\), which turns out to be either a del Pezzo fibration over \({\mathbb P^{1}}\) or a conic bundle over \({\mathbb P^{2}}\) or a suitable birational map; ii) a rational map \(\psi: X\to X'\) where \(X'\) is a Gorenstein Fano threefold with canonical singularities.
