Some remarks on the weak maximum principle (Q2583387)

Using the Omori-Yau maximum principle, \textit{S. T. Yau} [Am. J. Math. 100, 197--203 (1978; Zbl 0424.53040)] proved Schwarz's lemma for holomorphic maps between Kähler manifolds. In the paper under review, the authors obtain a maximum principle at infinity for solutions of a class of nonlinear singular elliptic differential inequalities on Riemannian manifolds under the sole geometrical assumptions of volume growth conditions. In the case of the Laplace-Beltrami operator they relate the results to stochastic completeness and parabolicity of the manifold.
