      Wird \[ \begin{multlined} \lim\limits_{n\to\infty}\left\{\dfrac{\pi}{\tau}\text{cotg} \dfrac{\pi}{\tau}x + \dfrac{\pi}{\tau}\text{cotg}\dfrac{\pi}{\tau}(1+x)+\cdots + \dfrac{\pi}{\tau}\text{cotg}\dfrac{\pi}{\tau}(n-1+x)\right. \\ \left.-\text{ln}\left(\dfrac{\pi}{\tau}\sin\,\dfrac{\pi}{\tau}(n - 1 + x)\right)\right\} = U(\tau, x) \end{multlined} \] gesetzt (\(\tau\) bedeutet eine beliebige komplexe Zahl mit positivem Imaginärteil) so gilt:. \[ \lim\limits_{|\tau|\to\infty}U(\tau, x) = -\varPsi (x), \] d. h. gleich der negativen logarithmischen Ableitung der Gammafunktion. Insbesondere folgt hieraus für \(x=1\) eine Darstellung der Eulerschen Konstanten \(C\), die als Verallgemeinerung von \(C = \lim\limits_{n\to\infty}\left(1 + \dfrac{1}{2} +\cdots + \dfrac{1}{n} - \text{ln}\,n\right)\) anzusprechen ist.
