Das Mesonfeld gibt Anlaß zu einem elektrischen Dipolmoment eines Kerns, das bei der Wechselwirkung mit einem äußeren elektrostatischen Feld in Erscheinung tritt, bei der Wechselwirkung mit einem durch ein reines Vektorpotential beschrie\-benen äußeren Feld (Lichtquant) jedoch keinen Beitrag liefert.
