Let \textbf{Vct} be the category of vector spaces over a fixed field \({\mathbb K}\). Denote by \textbf{DGVct} the category of differential graded \({\mathbb K}\)-vector spaces, which are concentrated in non-negative degrees and have differentials of degree -1, and denote by \textbf{SVct} the category of simplicial vector spaces, that is, the category of functors \(X:\Delta^{op}\rightarrow\)\textbf{Vct} where \(\Delta\) is the category of finite ordered sets \([n]=\{0<1<\cdots<n\}\) for \(n\in {\mathbb N}\) and whose morphisms are non-decreasing monotone functions. The Dold-Kan correspondence asserts that the normalization functor \(N\) and its inverse \(\Gamma\) induces an equivalence of categories between \textbf{SVct} and \textbf{DGVct}. As was point out by \textit{S. Schwede} and \textit{B. Shipley} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 3, 287--334 (2003; Zbl 1028.55013)], these functors are not adjoint at the level of comonoids. The first relevant contribution of the paper under review is the construction of a right adjoint to the normalization functor \(N\) on the level of comonoids obtaining, as a consequence, an adjoint Quillen pair. Then, when the author restricts this new Quillen pair to the categories of connected simplicial coalgebras and connected differential graded coalgebras, he obtains the main result of this paper, that is, the categories of connected simplicial coalgebras and connected differential graded coalgebras are equivalent.
