The tangent lifts of Poisson structures on a smooth manifold \(Q\) are Poisson structures on \(TQ\), and they were studied by Grabowski and Urbanski, as well as Vaisman. In the paper under review, the authors introduce and study vertical and horizontal lifts as such. From the introduction: In this paper, using the canonical Nijenhuis-tensor on \(TQ\), we define the vertical lift of multivector fields and we establish some properties. On the other hand, given a second order vector field on \(Q\), we define the horizontal lift of multivector field from \(Q\) to \(TQ\) and we prove that the horizontal lift commutes with the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket if and only if the second order vector field is flat. The authors also describe the singular foliations arising in each case.
