In the paper under review, the author focuses on Carnot groups. An extension of the MCP results of \textit{N. Juillet} [Int. Math. Res. Not. 2009, No. 13, 2347--2373 (2009; Zbl 1176.53053)] to any corank-\(1\) Carnot group is given. Thus, the author proves that any corank-\(1\) Carnot group of dimension \(k+1\) equipped with a left-invariant measure satisfies the \(\mathrm{MCP}(K,N)\) if and only if \(K\leq 0\) and \(N\geq k+3\) (see Theorem 2). The proof combines the arguments of Juillet [loc. cit.] and the computation of the Jacobian determinant of \textit{A. Agrachev} et al. [Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 43, No. 3--4, 355--388 (2012; Zbl 1236.53030)] for contact Carnot groups, extended here to the general corank-\(1\) case. Under the assumption of having negligible cut loci, the author defines the geodesic dimension in the more general setting of metric measure spaces. On a metric measure space, the curvature exponent is always larger than the geodesic dimension which, in turn, is larger than the Hausdorff one. At the end of the paper, the author proves that a Carnot group is ideal if and only if it is fat. The Engel group is also discussed.
