The authors consider the left-invariant sub-Riemannian problem on the Engel group begun in [Sb. Math. 202, No. 11, 1593--1615 (2011); translation from Mat. Sb. 202, No. 11, 31--54 (2011; Zbl 1241.53029)], where the main result was the upper bound of the cut time. In this paper they consider the first conjugate time along the trajectories. They prove that the function giving the upper bound of the cut time gives the lower bound for the first conjugate time.
