    The authors study the question when the time-frequency translates \[ \mathcal G(f,\Lambda)= \left \{ x\in \mathbb R^d\mapsto \mathrm{e}^{2\pi \mathrm{i} \langle a, x\rangle} f(x- b) : (a,b)\in \Lambda\right \}, \] are linearly independent and they show that this is the case for every \(\Lambda\subseteq \mathbb R^d\times \mathbb R^d\) provided \(f\) is Lebesgue measurable, \(f\) does not vanish almost everywhere on a half-space \(H=\{x\in \mathbb R^d:\langle x,v\rangle >\alpha\}\) where \(v\in \mathbb R^d\setminus \{0\}\), and for all \(c>0\) \[ \lim_{x\in H, | x|\to \infty} | f(x)| \mathrm{e}^{c| x|\log(| x|)}=0. \] They also prove a related result where both the assumptions and the conclusion are weakened.
