This paper studies the difference equation in a real Hilbert space \(H\) \[ \Delta u_n+c_nAu_{n+1}\ni f_n, \;\;\;n=0,1,\dots, \] with \(A:D(A)\subset H\rightarrow H\) a maximal monotone operator, \(c_n>0\) and \(f_n\in H\) \(p\)-periodic sequences for a given positive integer \(p\). The main result (Theorem 1) of this paper states that the equation has a bounded solution if and only if it has at least one \(p\)-periodic solution. In this case all solutions of the equation are bounded and for every solution \((u_n)\) there exists a \(p\)-periodic solution \((\omega_n)\) of the equation such that \(u_n-\omega_n\rightarrow 0,\) weakly in \(H\). This is a discrete analogue of an earlier continuous result. It has been stated in another research paper. However, the authors find a simpler proof. Theorem 2 provides a strong convergence result when \(A\) is strongly monotone. Examples are given at the end of the paper.
