A Fuchsian singularity is a quasi-homogeneous normal surface singularity, for which the divisor at infinity of the minimal resolution of the natural compactification consists of a central curve of genus \(g\) and self-intersection \(2g-2\), and chains of \(-2\)-curves. From this divisor several lattices are constructed: the lattice \(V_-\) of the irreducible components, the direct sum \(V_+=V_-\oplus U\) with the unimodular hyperbolic plane and \(V_0=V_-\oplus {\mathbb Z}u\). Let \(\tau_0\) and \(\tau_+\) be the Coxeter elements for the last two lattices where, in order to compensate for the non-existence of the reflection in the homology class of the central curve, two reflections are replaced by an Eichler-Siegel transformation. The main result is the expression of the Poincaré series of the local ring of the singularity as quotient \(\Delta_+/\Delta_0\) of the characteristic polynomials of these Coxeter elements. In case the singularity is negatively smoothable, the authors also give geometrical interpretations for the lattices and isometries involved, lifting them to triangulated categories.
