As was shown by \textit{J. van Mill} and \textit{van de Vel}, the superextension \(\lambda\) X of a normal separable space X is contractible if it is path connected; for the notion and the theorem see [\textit{J. van Mill}, Supercompactness and Wallman spaces, Math. Centre Tracts 85 (1977; Zbl 0407.54001) p. 102]. The author shows that the contractibility of \(\lambda\) X for normal spaces X follows from the existence of a single path joining in exp exp X the point exp \(\beta\) X with a point in exp \(\beta\) X. The symbol \(\beta\) stands for the Stone-Čech compactification. It should be noted that the space \(\lambda\) X is a subspace of exp exp X.
