Let \(X_i,Y_j\) (\(i=1,\dots, m\), \(j=1,\dots, n\)) be connected manifolds; \(x_i\in X_i\) and \(y_j\) are given functions of \((x_1,\dots,x_m)\). The author considers the multiplicative functional equation \[ \prod_{i=1}^{m}f_i(x_i)=\prod_{j=1}^{n}g_j(y_j) \] with unknown 0-1 valued functions \(f_i, g_j\) defined on \(X_i, Y_j\), respectively. If the above equation is satisfied almost everywhere (in topological or measure sense), then either on both sides one of the functions is zero almost everywhere or all the functions \(f_i,g_j\) are equal to \(1\) almost everywhere. The paper generalizes the author's earlier one: [ibid. 89, No. 2, 367--381 (2015; Zbl 1322.39008)].
