This paper corresponds to an extension of a previous research [\textit{C. Conti, M. Cotronei} and \textit{T. Sauer}, BIT 48, No.~1, 5--27 (2008; Zbl 1145.65119)] and [Interpolatory vector subdivision schemes. Curve and surface fitting. Avignon 2006. Proceedings 6th international conference on curves and surfaces, Avignon, France, June 29--July 5, 2006. Brentwood: Nashboro Press. Modern Methods in Mathematics, 71--80 (2007; Zbl 1130.65041)]. In this work, authors point out several ways how a multiresolution analysis can be derived from a finitely supported interpolatory matrix mask which has a positive definite symbol on the unit circle except at \(-1\). A major tool in the investigation will be subdivision schemes that are obtained by using convolution or correlation operations based on replacing the usual matrix multiplications by Kronecker products.
