The article presents a stability (and also injectivity) result for the parabolic diffusion equation with zero Dirichlet data. The difference in diffusion coefficients is bounded by the \(H^2\)-difference of solutions at large time~\(T\). The results assume a gap condition for strictly ordered eigenvalues and that the initial condition is mostly of one sign far from the boundary. The proof is based on decomposing \(-\partial_t u(x,T)\) into two parts, the first of which is related to the first eigenvalue and solution at the final time, while the second is independent of the final data and can be considered as a perturbation of a stationary linear transport equation, which still involves the unknown diffusion.
