Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded Lipschitz domain in \(\mathbb R^{N }$ ($N\geq 2$). This paper deals with the following problem \[ A(u) + g(x,u, \nabla u)= f \text{ in } \Omega,\quad u=\emptyset \text{ on } \partial \Omega, \eqno(1)\] in the context of Musielak spaces [\textit{J. Musielak}, Orlicz spaces and modular spaces. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1983; Zbl 0557.46020)], where \(Au=-\text{div }a(x,u,\nabla u) .\) The operator \(A\) is defined on \(D(A)\subset W^1_0L_{\varphi}(\Omega)\) and takes values in \(W^{-1}L_{\bar{\varphi}}(\Omega)\), where \(\varphi\) and \(\bar{\varphi}\) are two complementary Musielak functions. The non-linearity \(g\) satifies the condition: \[|g(x,s,\xi)| \leq \delta(x)+b(|s|) \varphi(x,|\xi|),\] where \(b:\mathbb R\to \mathbb R^+\) is a continuous positive function belonging to \(L^1(\mathbb R)\) and \(\delta\) is a non-negative function in \(L^1(\Omega).\) Under suitable complementary assumptions, the existence, in some sense, of at least one solution to problem (1) is proved (Theorem~14). The paper is self-contained; properties of Musielak spaces are recalled in Section~2 of the paper.
