For \(\Omega\) a domain in \(\mathbb C^n\) let \(\operatorname{PSH}(\Omega)\) denote the set of plurisubharmonic functions (psh) on \(\Omega\). For \(S\) a polydisc or ball in \(\Omega\) and \(\phi\in \operatorname{PSH}(\Omega)\) set \(\phi_S = \frac1{|S|}\int_S\phi\) and \(MO_S(\phi) = \frac1{|S|}\int_S|\phi-\phi_S|\), where \(|S|\) denotes the Lebesgue measure of \(S\). A function \(\phi\in L^1_{\mathrm{loc}}(\Omega)\) has bounded mean oscillation (BMO) with respect to a family \(\mathcal S=\mathcal S(\Omega)\) of relatively compact open subsets in \(\Omega\) if \(\sup_{S\in\mathcal S} MO_S(\phi)<\infty\). Rather than considering the mean oscillation of psh functions the authors consider the bounded upper oscillation (BUO) of such functions which is defined as \(\sup_{S\in\mathcal S}UO_S(\phi)<\infty\) where \(UO_S(\phi) = \sup_S\phi - \phi_S\). Since \(MO_S(\phi) \le 2UO_S(\phi)\) we have that BUO implies BMO. In Theorem 1.1 using Harnack's inequality and convex analysis the authors show that each plurisubharmonic function is locally BUO with respect to polydiscs of finite type, but not for arbitrary polydiscs. They also prove that each function in the Lelong class is globally BUO with respect to all polydiscs. As an application, in Theorem 1.3 the authors obtain an approximation formula for the Bergman kernel that preserves all directional Lelong numbers.
