Let \(\mathrm{LAut}(S)\) denote the (inverse) monoid of local automorphisms of a semigroup \(S\), that is, of isomorphisms between subsemigroups of \(S\). The main theorem of the paper gives a complete classification of the finite semigroups \(S\) such that \(\mathrm{LAut}(S)\) is a \(\varDelta\)-semigroup in the sense that its congruences form a chain under inclusion. The author [Ukr. Math. J. 68, No. 11, 1820--1828 (2017; Zbl 1490.20039); translation from Ukr. Mat. Zh. 68, No. 11, 1571--1578 (2016)] had previously classified all finite semigroups \(S\) for which \(\mathrm{LAut}(S)\) is congruence-permutable. The proof of the new result consists in checking which among those have the desired property.
