In this paper under review, the author uses geometric results of [\textit{C.-F. Yu}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 139, 9, 3181--3190 (2011; Zbl 1236.14030)] and the Picard-Lefschetz formula of [\textit{P. Deligne} and \textit{N. Katz}, Séminaire de géométrie algébrique du Bois-Marie 1967--1969. Groupes de monodromie en géométrie algébrique (SGA 7 II) par P. Deligne et N. Katz. Cham: Springer (1973; Zbl 0258.00005)] to study the cohomology of paramodular Siegel threefolds. The author proves a geometric Jacquet-Langlands correspondence for such paramodular Siegel threefolds, which proves a conjecture of Ibukiyama. The author also proves a level lowering result for cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations of \(\mathrm{GSp}_4\), in the spirit of Mazur's level lowering results for modular forms. The main technical result of this paper is the weight-monodromy conjecture for the inner cohomology of Siegel threefolds over \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) with paramodular level structure at \(p\).
