    Recall that a real number \(x\) is said to be badly approximable if there is a constant \(c > 0\) such that \[ \left\vert x -\frac{p}{q}\right\vert > \frac{c}{q^2}, \] for all \(p/q \in\mathbb{Q}\). In the paper under review, the notion is extended to \(S\)-numbers and some interesting properties of the set are derived. Let \(K\) be a number field, let \(\mathcal{O}\) be its ring of integers and let \(S\) be the set of all non-conjugate, normalized Archimedean places and define the set of \(S\)-numbers to be \[ K_S = \prod_{v \in S} K_v \cong\mathbb{R}^d, \] where \(K_v\) is the completion of \(K\) at \(v\). Let \(\iota_S : K \rightarrow K_S\) denote the diagonal embedding, i.e. \(\iota_S(r) = (\iota_v(r))_{v \in S}\), where \(\iota_v: K \rightarrow K_v\) is the usual embedding. Finally, define a norm on \(K_S\) by letting \(\Vert x \Vert = \max \vert x_v \vert_v\) and denote by \(x \cdot y\) the coordinatewise product on \(K_S\). An \(S\)-number \(x\) is said to be badly approximable if there is a constant \(c > 0\) such that for any pair \((p,q) \in\mathcal{O}^2\) with \(q \neq 0\), \[ \Vert \iota_S(q) \cdot x - \iota_S(p) \Vert > \frac{c}{\Vert \iota_S(q)\Vert}. \] Extending results of \textit{R. Esdahl-Schou} and the reviewer [Glasg. Math. J. 52, No. 2, 349--355 (2010; Zbl 1211.11090)] as well as results of \textit{M. Einsiedler} et al. [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 36, No. 6, 1851--1864 (2016; Zbl 1392.37004)], it is shown that the set of such numbers are winning for a certain variant of Schmidt's game.
