      The authors consider the Dirichlet boundary problem NEWLINENEWLINE\[CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE \begin{cases} -\mathrm{div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)=f(u) & \text{ in } B(R),\\ u=0 \;\text{ on } \;\partial B(1), \quad u>0 & \text{ in } B(R), \end{cases} CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE\]NEWLINE NEWLINEwhere \(B(R)\subset \mathbb R^n,\) \(n\geq 2\) is a ball, \(p\in (1,n]\) and \(f\in C^0[0,\infty).\) The authors prove that under suitable growth conditions on the nonlinearity, there exists an \(\gamma_0>0\) and a corresponding \(R_0(\gamma_0)>0\) such that for all \(0<R<R_0\) the problem admits a unique nondegenerate positive radial solution \(u \text{ with } \|u\|_{\infty}\geq \gamma_0\).
