Quantum permutation groups are quantum subgroups of the free symmetric quantum group \(S_N^+\) introduced as the quantum automorphism groups of \(n\) points in [\textit{S.~Wang}, Commun. Math. Phys. 195, No.~1, 195--211 (1998; Zbl 1013.17008)]. For \(n\ge 4\), the algebra of `continuous functions' on this compact quantum group is a noncommutative infinite-dimensional C\({}^*\)-algebra, equipped with additional structure, in particular a coproduct which turns it into a compact quantum group in the sense of \textit{S.~L. Woronowicz} [Commun. Math. Phys. 111, 613--665 (1987; Zbl 0627.58034)]. In his paper, the author introduces several new notions, such as quantum permutations, Birkhoff slices, and the orbital relation, that can be used to give more intuitive proofs of the properties of quantum permutation groups.
