Let \((V^4, \pi: V\rightarrow \mathbb{D}^2)\) be an achiral Lefschetz fibration and let \(N\) be a compact manifold of dimension at least \(4\) with non-empty boundary. A proper embedding \(f_r: (V,\partial V)\rightarrow (N\times \mathbb{D}^2, \partial(N\times \mathbb{D}^2))\) is called a relative Lefschetz fibration embedding if \(\pi_{2}\circ f_r=\pi\), where \(\pi_{2}:N\times \mathbb{D}^2\rightarrow \mathbb{D}^2\) is the projection map. In the paper under review, the authors prove that every 4-manifold (possibly non-orientable) with handles of index \(0\), \(1\) and \(2\) admits a relative Lefschetz fibration embedding in \(\mathbb{D}^5\times \mathbb{D}^2\), and every orientable 4-manifold with handles of index \(0\), \(1\) and \(2\) admits a relative Lefschetz fibration embedding in \((\mathbb{S}^{2}\times \mathbb{S}^{2}\setminus \mathbb{D}^4)\times \mathbb{D}^2\). The authors also discuss a case of relative Lefschetz fibration embedding in \(\mathbb{D}^4\times \mathbb{D}^2\). Let \(\Sigma_{g,1}\) denote a genus \(g\) surface with one boundary component, and \(\phi\) is a homeomorphism of \(\Sigma_{g,1}\) fixing the boundary. Suppose \(V^4\) is a Lefschetz fibration with regular fiber \(\Sigma_{g,1}\) and monodromy \(\phi\). If \(\phi\) is hyperelliptic, then \(V^4\) admits a relative Lefschetz fibration embedding in \(\mathbb{D}^4\times \mathbb{D}^2\).
