The authors consider a one-dimensional barotropic system of Navier-Stokes type. The gas is polytropic and perfect. The viscosity is proportional to the velocity gradient with the coefficient depending (as a power law) on the variable specific volume. The focus is on the well-posedness in the inviscid limit. The limit system is the isentropic Euler 1D system. The system is equipped with the Riemann initial data. Stability and uniqueness of the Riemann solution in the class of inviscid limits is shown.
