For a dynamical system \((X,f)\), the so-called Devaney chaos phenomenon requires the following three conditions: transitivity, having dense set of periodic points, and sensitivity. In [\textit{J. Banks} et al., Am. Math. Mon. 99, No. 4, 332--334 (1992; Zbl 0758.58019)], it was proved that the two first conditions imply the last one. \textit{E. Glasner} and \textit{B. Weiss} [Nonlinearity 6, No. 6, 1067--1075 (1993; Zbl 0790.58025)] established a stronger result which implies that a transitive non-minimal compact metric system \((X,f)\) with dense set of minimal points is sensitive. This stronger result was generalized when \(S\) is a group in [\textit{E. Glasner}, Ergodic theory via joinings. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2003; Zbl 1038.37002)], and when \(S\) is a C-semigroup in [\textit{E. Kontorovich} and \textit{M. Megrelishvili}, Semigroup Forum 76, No. 1, 133--141 (2008; Zbl 1161.47029)]. In the present work the authors generalize the result in [\textit{E. Kontorovich} and \textit{M. Megrelishvili}, loc. cit.] in the setting of a semigroup action on a metric space. They show that if a dynamical system \((S,X,\Phi)\) is transitive, non-minimal and has a dense set of minimal points, then it is sensitive. They also obtain a more general result when the system is almost open and gave an example to illustrate that without the condition of almost openness the result no longer holds.
