In the paper under review, the authors explore the use of higher-order Jacobian matrices, introduced by \textit{D. Duarte} [J. Algebra 477, 211--230 (2017; Zbl 1393.14013)], to define a new invariant for isolated hypersurface singularities, and study some properties for 1-dimensional isolated singularities. Let \(F\) be a polynomial in \(\mathbb{C}[x_1, \cdots, x_n]\) and \(V\) the hypersurface defined by \(F\). Denote by \(\operatorname*{Jac}_k(F)\) the Jacobian matrix of order \(k\). Let \(\mathcal{J}_k(F)\) be the ideal generated by maximal minors of \(\operatorname*{Jac}_k(F)\), \(\mathcal{V}_k(F):=\mathcal{O}_n/<F, \mathcal{J}_k(F)>\) the higher Nash blow-up local algebra of V, \(\mathcal{L}_k(V):=\operatorname*{Der}(\mathcal{M}_k(V))\) the Lie algebra of derivations, and \(\rho_k(V)\) the dimension of \(\mathcal{L}_k(V)\). The authors explicitly calculate those invariants for \(n=2\) and prove the following results: \begin{itemize} \item[1.] The second-order Jacobian matrix \(\mathcal{M}_2(V)\) is a bihomomorphic invariant if \((V,0)\) is a one-dimensional isolated singularity;. \item[2.] There is no non-zero negative weight derivation on the the local algebra \(\mathcal{M}_2(V)\) if \(F\) is a weighted homogeneous polynomial of two variables; \item[3.] The invariant \(\rho_2(V)\) is bounded from above by \(\rho_2(B)\) of a Brieskorn singularity \((B, 0)\) of the same weight type if \((V, 0)\) is weighted binomial isolated singularity. \end{itemize} The authors further conjecture that the same results hold true in higher dimensions.
