A nearring \(N\) is a partially ordered nearring if the underlying group is a partially ordered group \((N,+,\leq )\) for which \(a\leq b\) and \( c\geq 0\) implies \(ac\leq bc\) and \(ca\leq cb\). In a natural way, this order on \(N\) induces an ordering on the matrix nearring over \(N\) and the authors show that this is a partial order on the matrix nearring. The transfer and connections between various properties of the ordering on a nearring and the corresponding matrix nearring are investigated. These include the positive cone, convexity of ideals, order-preserving homomorphisms, total orders and Archimedean orders.
