Let \[ F(a,b;c;x):=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{\Gamma(a+n)\Gamma(b+n)\Gamma(c)}{\Gamma(a)\Gamma(b)\Gamma(c+n)}\cdot x^n \] be the Gaussian hypergeometric function. Consider the generalized elliptic integral of the first kind \(\mathcal{K}_a(r):=\tfrac{\pi}{2}F(a,1-a;1,r^2)\), \(0<a\leq\tfrac{1}{2}\), which is a generalization of the complete elliptic integral of the first kind \(\mathcal{K}(r):=\tfrac{\pi}{2}F(\tfrac{1}{2},\tfrac{1}{2};1,r^2)\). Starting with some monotonicity properties of certain combinations of functions involving \(\mathcal{K}_a(r)\), the authors provide sharp upper and lower bounds for \(\mathcal{K}_a(r)\) in terms of elementary functions of \(a\) and \(r\).
