Some additions to the authors' earlier paper [ibid. 43, No. 1, 31-51 (1989; Zbl 0977.01500)] are given. A little more information from a hitherto unnoticed source in David Gregory's \textit{Memoranda} generally confirms the earlier account, but modifies one or two conjectures. In addition, the originality of Newton's idea for the mirror is examined and the fate of the mirror has been determined.
