The Öttinger non-isothermal compressible model for complex fluids consists of first-order partial differential equations and contains non-conservative terms due to the Oldroyd derivative. The purpose of this paper is to show that the corresponding one-dimensional system has globally small smooth solutions, and is compatible with the Navier-Stokes equations. Although this one-dimensional model has a convex entropy, the Hessian of the entropy function does not symmetrize due to the non-conservative terms.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe proofs use inequalities in Sobolev spaces, Gronwall inequality and Maxwell iteration.
