The Némethi-Veys formula relates the topological zeta functions of the three existing splice diagrams. The author introduces a notion of a diagram which allows him more freedom than that of a splice diagram and proves that a splice formula also holds for the corresponding motivic zeta function. In addition, he proves the existence of two polynomials with the same topological type but different monodromic motivic zeta functions, raising the question of what type of invariant is the above function. Finally, the author also shows that the so-called generalized monodromy conjecture (of Némethi and Veys) holds for the motivic zeta function, but this is not the case for the monodromic motivic zeta function.
