A coding of points in indecomposable inverse limits of a certain class of unimodal interval maps to binary sequences is developed (using the axiom of choice) in such a way that two points belong to the same component if and only if their associated sequences agree on their tails. In the case of a single unimodal map it is shown that the assignment of sequences to points may in addition be made to respect the dynamics in the sense that the shift map on the sequence space is semi-conjugate to the shift homeomorphism induced by the unimodal map on the inverse limit space. This extends well-known results for an indecomposable continuum constructed from a single tent core with a periodic critical point.
