Covariant decomposition of the Kerr-Newman field equations (English)
0 references
The author investigates various features of the exterior field of a charged rotating source. By re-arranging and using a preferred reference frame for the metric and field equations of a Kerr-Newman spacetime, he is able to easily perform a \(3+1\)-decomposition. The Kerr-Newman field equations, thus decomposed into spacelike and timelike parts, yields Maxwell-like equations for gravitation, where field strengths have gravitational and electromagnetic current and source terms and the electromagnetic fields are coupled to gravielectric and gravimagnetic interaction terms. In the process, the author studies a seed static metric related to the Kerr-Newman metric and discusses how surfaces, embedded into a flat 5-dimensional space, can be related to the static metric and the bein vectors extended to get the rotating metric.
