Let \(k\) be a field. The author considers monomial curves, also known as (numerical) semigroup rings of dimension 1. A numerical semigroup is generated by \(t_0,\dots,t_n\) natural numbers. The author introduces an interesting point of view that ``unifies'' in some sense the study of monomial curves and of its tangent cone. He first defines a normalized numerical semigroup generated by some rational numbers, then he introduces two kinds of normalized numerical semigroup rings, one is the usual one and the second is associated to the tangent cone. The main point is to define extensions of the semigroup rings and to study when the extensions are Cohen-Macaulay, Gorenstein or complete intersections, generalizing known results on the tangent cones by gluing or other extensions of a semigroup.
