This is a well readable and thorough presentation and discussion of Bertrand Russell's philosophical positions as he developed and held them between about 1900 and 1925, positions called by himself occasionally `logical atomism'. Anybody who is interested to learn, or refresh, these matters is recommened to consult this book.NEWLINENEWLINEThe book is divided into three parts: (I) logic and mathematics; (II) knowledge; and (III) metaphysics. Part I describes Russell's views on logic, particularly as a basis of mathematics, and their development up to the Pricipia Mathematica volumes and the ramified theory of types. Part II is devoted to Russell's considerations about knowledge, understood as knowledge of objects as well as knowledge of facts, and his approaches toward an understanding of what minds are and how they work. Part III finally discusses Russell's view on the nature of propositions, universals, and facts.NEWLINENEWLINEThere is, finally, besides the list of references, a concordance of reprints of journal articles and a well-made extended index.
