Let \((X,f)\) be a Peano continuum having a free arc. The following is the main result of this paper. Theorem. Suppose that \(X\) admits a sensitive open map. Then, either \(X\) is an arc, or \(X\) is a circle. Further, some examples are constructed to show that this result does not hold for semi-open maps.
