Let \(R\) denote a ring with center \(Z\). The reviewer and \textit{M. N. Daif} [Beitr. Algebra Geom. 57, No. 1, 129--136 (2016; Zbl 1339.16044)] defined a centrally-extended derivation (resp. centrally-extended endomorphism) to be a map \(D:R\to R\) such that \(D(x+y)- D(x)- D(y)\in Z\) and \(D(xy)- D(x)y- xD(y)\in Z\) for all \(x,y\in R\) (resp. a map \(T:R\to R\) such that \(T(x+y)- T(x)- T(y)\in Z\) and \(T(xy)- T(x) T(y)\in Z\) for all \(x,y\in R\)). Motivated by these definitions, the authors define (i) centrally-extended left and right \(\alpha\)-centralizers, (ii) centrally-extended \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivations, and (iii) centrally extended generalized \((\alpha,\beta)\)-derivations. Following the pattern of the Bell-Daif paper [loc. cit.], they investigate when such maps are equal to their non-extended precursors, they study invariance of \(Z\), and they prove some commutativity theorems.
