Let \(F\) denote a local non-Archimedean field of characteristic zero and let \(G\) be the group of \(F\)-rational points of a connected reductive group over \(F\). Also, we denote by \(G'\) the group of \(F\)-rational points of the quasi-split inner form of \(G\). Suppose that \(I(\tau, \nu)\) is a standard module of \(G\) and let \(I(\tau', \nu')\) stand for a standard module of \(G'\), where the tempered representation \(\tau'\) is generic. The aim of the paper under review is to prove that \(I(\tau, \nu)\) is irreducible whenever \(I(\tau', \nu')\) is irreducible, if there is a generic essentially square-integrable representation appearing in some Jacquet module of \(\tau'\) such that its Harish-Chandra \(\mu\)-function agrees with the one of a representation appearing in the cuspidal support of \(\tau\). Also, it is shown that such a condition is satisfied if the Langlands quotients of the standard modules \(I(\tau, \nu)\) and \(I(\tau', \nu')\) lie in the same Vogan \(L\)-packet.
